Vision Statement Drafts

At the last taskforce meeting Carl Schwartzkopf, John Danford, Julie Harbin and Lauren Morris volunteered to participate on a sub-committee that would meet outside of the regular taskforce to creatively develop a number of draft vision statements that attempt to incorporate the themes, issues and focus areas that have been identified in group exercise conducted to date. After several meetings and much thought, the following draft vision statements have been prepared for overall taskforce review.

Version 1

Vision
A balanced and healthy economy through improved education, economic diversity, infrastructure, and natural resources.
Mission
Horry County offers an enviable quality of life, deep cultural roots, distinct natural resources, and a history and legacy that foster a special sense of place. Horry County will build on these assets to assure a balanced and healthy economic environment for all through enhanced educational opportunities, economic diversity, infrastructure development, and the preservation of our natural resources.

Version 2

Horry County communities offer an unparalleled quality of life, deep cultural roots, distinct natural resources and a history and legacy that reinforces sense of place. We will leverage these assets to advance an economic environment that fosters education, innovation, creativity and infrastructural capacity.

Version 3

Horry County fosters education, innovation, creativity and knowledge; recognizing these as the core strengths to a divers and sustainable economy. These strengths are supported by Horry County’s commitment to protecting and emphasizing the cultural and environmental resources that make the community unique.

Version 4

Horry County continues to leverage existing economic, environmental and community strengths that are the basis for growth thus far. Fostering the creation, expansion and retentions of innovation and knowledge adds strength, diversity and resiliency to an already flourishing economy. Horry County will continue to be the community of choice for living, working and leisure opportunities.

Version 5

Horry County is committed to sustainable economic development through nurturing education, innovation, creativity, and diversity while simultaneously investing in and supporting the cultural and environmental assets that make its communities unique.
